Why your organization should educate the community about electric vehicles
Electric vehicles are the future of driving, and the future is now. In the United States, electric vehicles (EVs) are predicted to account for over 38% of all new vehicle sales by 2025 – only three years from now! The rate of adoption is even more rapid overseas; for example, China currently accounts for almost 60% of global EV sales and over half of the 600,000 public charging ports installed worldwide.
The switch from gasoline-based internal combustion engines to EVs can help mitigate climate change, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and cutting down on global pollutants. The positive impacts on the environment will lead to numerous other benefits, from the health and safety of residents in the world’s most congested cities to global financial markets encompassing the worlds of STEM, public transit, travel and more.
The need for the EV revolution is both urgent and self-apparent, but in order to make it happen, transformations in the electric grid, charging infrastructure and supply chains are necessary. Utility companies need to re-envision the distribution of electricity across the globe, and manufacturers of automobiles, lithium batteries and related software will be forced to adapt to rapidly changing demands. The change won’t be easy, but it is inevitable: the future of our planet depends on it.
For all these reasons, it’s imperative that organizations everywhere, from utilities to STEM to health and wellness, educate their communities about the importance of electric vehicles.
